First of all, we need to name Japanese cartoons with their proper names, which is Manga or Anime. In Japan, there are a lot of subcultures, like Lolitas, Mori Girls and, of course, the most common Otakus. Otakus is the biggest subculture, it has 12 types and different levels. What began as a tradition of wearing different customs, it was a really naive experience for teenagers transform into a big problem for Japanese society nowadays. A lot of people around the globe are really interesting on the subject. Actually to see them is almost a touristic experience as to walk into Shibuya downtown of Tokyo.

Otakus are groups of commonly teenagers or young people, who are fans of characters of cartoons, so they start to dress like them, talk like them, until they believe they are one of this charcater, and stop behaving like a normal person. They stop dressing in normal clothes, and some of them change their names for the names of the characters.

They started to be segregated from the normal society, so the quite schools, and commonly run away from their houses. The government created an area where they are allowed to work and they started to live here, this part of Tokyo city because of this bizarre situation, turn into a touristic place, people around the globe want to see and meet otakus and the way they live. Most of them work in coffee shops and cyber stores. In these places they are allowed to be in their extravagant clothes and act and pretend they turn into this cartoon character. As crazy as it sounds, this subculture made a revolution in fashion, in food, and in the style of life and thinking of young society.
